Services
My goal at Thirty Pines Tree Care is to promote healthy trees and safe environments for the people that live near them. The services I provide are based on years of personal experience and are informed by scientific research.
As an arborist I am a trained professional who deals in the art and science of diagnosing, pruning, and planting trees. Each plant exists in a unique context and therefore has different needs - what I do is figure out what the plant needs and balance that with your needs.
Thirty Pines is fully insured
Risk Assessment
Trees near homes, play areas, and infrastructure can be a big source of anxiety and are sometimes a liability concern. I offer written risk assessments with documentation that is accepted by insurance companies and courts of law. Each assessment includes:
a thorough inspection of the tree(s) from root to crown
detailed account of specific targets that may be impacted, the likelihood of failure for each defect/target, and a map showing the location of tree(s) and potential targets
a summary of wind direction/load, soil structure, and any other factors that may affect the risk posed by the tree
copies of all notes and photographs of any concerns
a formal written report summarizing findings
specific recommendations for any mitigation, which, if followed, will reduce risk to an acceptable level and absolve the owner of the tree from legal liability
Pruning
The interior of a tree naturally dies as it grows, resulting in less airflow and better conditions for pests and diseases. Crossing branches can become rubbing branches; rubbing branches cause wounds that weaken a trees’ stability and sap a tree’s energy (yes, thats a bad pun). Some branch attachments are inherently weak and can lead to branch failures. Proper pruning can address these and other issues before they cause serious problems down the road.
Restoration
Poor pruning or storm damage can ruin a tree’s structure and health and turn it into an eyesore. Although not always possible, tree restoration can prevent future problems and rescue a tree’s aesthetics.
Cabling and Bracing
Sometimes large limbs or entire trees can pose low-risk hazards. If you want to save a tree that is not hazardous but likely to fail (or if you’ve got a treehouse you want to stabilize), cabling and bracing can minimize risk and help preserve your trees.
Removal
Some trees are safety hazards, and some damage foundations, walls, or driveways. These trees need to be removed. Thirty Pines advocates for doing everything possible to save a tree before removing it, but if removal is necessary I can remove trees with no collateral damage to your property.
Planting
Planting a tree so it stays healthy for many years is a little more involved than just digging a hole and putting it in the ground. Removing girdling roots, selecting a tree with strong structure, even digging a hole the right size can affect the long-term health of a tree.
Possibly the most important part of planting a tree is putting the right tree in the right place so that a large tree doesn’t grow into your house or a small dogwood will the right amount of sun to flower well. I can work with you to find a tree that fits your space and help keep it strong for years to come.

Thirty Pines provides professional tree care; I do not offer the following services except under exceptional circumstances:
Tree topping and other pruning practices that will compromise the structural integrity or health of the tree
Pruning to remove more than ~20% of live tree canopy (other than fruit trees)
Deep-root fertilization and other unnecessary “cash grab” services
I hope to be able to give injection treatments for emerald ash borer and other pests soon. I am not able to provide emergency services at this time.
